Six in Six: A mid-year recap

Over at The Book Jotter, Six in Six is a meme that helps book bloggers look back at the first half of their year’s reading. I’ve seen it on other blogs I follow, but I’ve never done it myself. You can choose from Jo’s categories (as I did) or make up your own. Six categories of six books each, or just six books total, it’s up to you!

I enjoyed finding categories in which I could list six books, without repeating any. Images link to my Goodreads review or blog post.

Have you read any of these? What are your highlights from the first six months of 2022?

Six pretty book covers

Six nature related books

Six mysteries, thrillers or crime novels NOT by Agatha Christie

Six books set in a country other than my own

Six from the non-fiction shelf

Six books I had a couple of issues with but am glad I read anyway

  1. You have read some good books in 2022. I liked Braiding Sweetgrass and Educated. My husband really liked Inheritance since he’s into DNA for his own genealogy tracking. Gut has an interesting cover and is a topic I want to know about — thanks for putting it on my radar.

  2. What a lovely list. I haven’t read a single one of your books but some of them seem very interesting. I absolutely love Brian Cox, didn’t know he had written a book, I’ll have to inviestigate. Thanks.

    My Six in Six.

  3. Great choice of categories and books, Lory. This meme is such an interesting way to look back at the first half of the year. I need to read The Hidden Palace as I really enjoyed The Golem and the Jinni!

  4. Only read the Pinker and the Ibbotson, enjoying both but in very different ways. I did enjoy the reviews you did of many of the titles, though – what a lovely range.

    1. Pinker and Ibbotson are worlds apart in subject and style! Both ways to explore and enjoy the magic of language, though.

  5. I’m reading The Hidden Palace right now, very excited to finally read Wecker’s sequel and hope it will be as good as the first. Thanks for the nature book recommendations, that’s something I’m looking to read more of. My coworkers have recommended Braiding Sweetgrass. I also really enjoyed Just Last Night.

    1. It was a worthy sequel I think. Hope you did enjoy it (I imagine you’ve finished by now!)
