Best of the Best: My top picks from seven years of blogging

Congratulations to Raven Garland, winner of a copy of The Best of the Emerald City Book Review! Thanks to all who celebrated my seven years of blogging at ECBR.

If you’d still like a copy of the book, it’s available for sale now in EPUB, Kindle, and print format (from Lulu or Amazon). The print format includes a few extra posts (inserted to make pages line up nicely), but the contents are essentially the same.

And if you’d like a free PDF proof copy, just send me an email (lory / enterenchanted / com). I’m not out to make big bucks from this project; I’ll just be happy to hear from you.

Taking an idea from the Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog, as a last hurrah I’ve selected my top books from each year of blogging at ECBR. I hesitate to use the word “favorite,” but these are the ones that have stuck with me the longest, that I think about the most often, and am most likely to reread.

I’ve picked a fiction and nonfiction book for each year. Links are to my original review.

2014: My Brother Michael / The Age of Wonder
2015: Shadows on the Rock / Is That a Fish in Your Ear?
2016: Wyrd Sisters / Just Mercy
2017: East of Eden / The Book of Joy
2018: Les Miserables / I Don’t Want To Talk About It
2019: Shadowplay / I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
2020: Piranesi / An Anthropologist on Mars

Just writing this list makes me want to get all these out and start reading again! Have you read any of them as well? What are your most memorable reads from your blogging years?

  1. Oh I am so happy to see Wyrd Sisters as one of your choices, that is still one of my favourite of Pratchett’s brilliantly bonkers Discworld novels! 😍
