Lectio divina, or sacred reading, is an ancient contemplative practice. It helps us engage with text in a way that points toward the divine creative spark in ourselves and the universe. In 40-minute Zoom meetings, free and open to all, I lead participants through the process. Please see below for more information.

Meeting Format
Meetings will start promptly at the scheduled times. If you come in late, please mute your microphone and catch up with the practice as you are able.
Each 40-minute meeting will follow the same format:
- 00:00 Gathering and Welcome
- 00:05 Reading – engaging with sacred text
- 00:10 Reflecting – pondering inwardly or through creative expression
- 00:15 Responding – with a personal prayer or intention
- 00:20 Resting – silent contemplation
- 00:25 Optional sharing of thoughts and experiences
Reading will consist of a short text that I read aloud slowly a few times. A different, independent text will be read in each session. Reflecting, Responding, and Resting are silent, private practices, but I will give some verbal guidance at the beginning of each section.
The sharing time at the end is completely optional for those who wish to stay on and have some conversation with others. I do ask that those who stay for this time be willing to speak as well as listen.
Readings
I will choose a different reading for each session, from the Bible and other sources appropriate for contemplation–not always religious. I welcome suggestions for readings, if you have any favorite passages.
