Throwback Thursday: Dark Money

Today at the Emerald City Book Review Archive, I’m reposting one of my past nonfiction reviews in honor of Nonfiction November. Dark Money is a disturbing but essential read for anyone who wants to know what is going on behind the scenes of our public political discourse. Powerful forces are working to bend things in their favor, and the first step to changing this is to be informed. Author Jane Mayer has done the vitally important work of uncovering a history the players don’t want you to know, at no small personal risk.

    1. Nice, I’d like to revisit my review of that one too. You might be interested in Steinbeck’s Journal of a Novel, which is the notes he took while writing East of Eden – fascinating insight into his writing process.

    1. Good question. Steel yourself for a disturbing read. But there’s nothing to be done about these forces without knowledge, so we have to inform ourselves.

    1. Yes, it’s so horrible but the good thing is that they didn’t want us to know what they were doing, and thanks to Jane Mayer now we do.
